URL: You want to begin by having a good url. If something is too long or too hard to read it’s not going to grasp someones attention on their dashboard, or especially in promos. You want to have an interesting inviting url, think of it as a title to your blog. Also, try not to change your url too much, it can confuse followers since they might not know you changed.
MESSAGES: Messages are fun but can get rude or awkward. If someone is bullying or pressuring you on messages - just ignore them and delete the question. Answer publicly or privately depending on the message of course. Make sure to always be nice when you answer someone, being nice (or not) can gain you a good (or bad) reputation! PHOTOS: Always. Always. Always. Add your source link. ONLY IF YOU POSTED THE PHOTO THOUGH. I hate when people delete my source link or change it, if you posted it you’re the source obviously! Also write a little caption with your photo if you have the time. Writing something quirky or interesting will interest the reader, they might even click your link! I also put a click through link on the caption, but that’s to my blogspot. Also, add tags! They allow people to easily search and find your photos. I always put three tags on each of my photos, too little and your photo won’t be found. I hate when a photo has too many tags though, it can spam up the bottom of the photo.
PROMOS: Promote your blog HERE HERE HERE: http://tumblrplug.com This has added a bunch of followers to my blog, and I’ve only done it a couple times. Always reblog promos if they are “first 5” or “first 3” that ensures that you will be promoted. If the promo is favorites you might not be promoted so notice if your blog is similar or maybe interesting to the other blog. It’s useless to reblog a promo if you think the other person wouldn’t promo you. I don’t recommend reblogging promos where you have to follow 5 or more tumblers. Also, when the number of reblogs before the author checks is important. If it needs 500 reblogs you will have less of a chance to get looked at. Also promos that have an infinite amount of reblogs can be tricky, you might not even get looked at!
FOLLOWING: Follow blogs that you want to follow! That’s that! I like looking at peoples promos, I’ve gained a ton of fashion blogs on my dashboard. Also following people might gain you followers if they like your blog.
